SONG Kang-ho in Hindsight (2011)

SONG Kang-ho, one of Korea's most popular actors and one widely known here in the States, was born on January 17, 1967 in Kyung Nam, South Korea. One of his first roles was in LEE Chang-dong's first film, Green Fish (1997). He went on to prominent roles in the hit films Shiri (1999) and J.S.A.: Joint Security Area (2000). SONG had the title role in PARK Chan-wook's Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) and also appeared in PARK's Lady Vengeance (2005).

With his hair dyed, he portrayed PARK Gang-doo in BONG Joon-ho's hit monster movie The Host (2006). He again worked with LEE Chang-dong in 2007, co-starring in Secret Sunshine. Other notable roles among the twenty-four films in which he's appeared include YOON Tae-goo, "The Weird" in KIM Jee-woon's The Good the Bad, the Weird (2008); Priest Sang-hyeon in Thirst (2009, again for PARK Chan-wook); South Korean agent LEE Han-kyu in JANG Hun's spy thriller Secret Reunion (2010); and retired gangster Doo-hyeon in  LEE Hyun-seung's Hindsight (2011).

So best wishes for a Happy Birthday to you, SONG Kang-ho. We're looking forward to many, many more great performances from you in the years to come.
